Using CraftRank Votes with other vote plugins

Already use NuVotifier, SuperbVote or VotingPlugin for other server lists? How to add CraftRank without losing your /vote command or giving players two rewards.

5 min read · Updated

Most servers already have a vote setup for other lists: NuVotifier to receive votes and a reward plugin such as SuperbVote or VotingPlugin. You can add CraftRank to that setup in two ways. This guide explains both, and fixes the three things that can clash: the /vote command, reminders and double rewards.

Option A or B

Option A: use the NuVotifier you already have. On CraftRank, edit your server, turn on Votifier and enter your server address, Votifier port and public key (or token). Votes from CraftRank then arrive like votes from any other list, and your reward plugin gives the reward. You don't need our plugin at all. The steps are in how to set up Votifier.

Option B: run the CraftRank Votes plugin next to your other plugins. Votes from other lists keep going to your reward plugin; votes from CraftRank are rewarded by our plugin. This works without an open port, and adds vote reminders and placeholders for CraftRank. Use one option for CraftRank, not both.

/vote shows only the other plugin's links

Two plugins want the same /vote command, and only one of them can answer. Some reward plugins, SuperbVote for example, catch /vote before any other plugin sees it, so their message always wins. Votes and rewards still work: only the command is taken.

First check that our plugin works. Type /craftrankvotes:vote in game: it always runs our command and shows your CraftRank vote link. Then pick one of these:

  • Add your CraftRank link to the other plugin's /vote message (recommended). One command then shows every list.
    • SuperbVote: in plugins/SuperbVote/config.yml, find the vote-command section and add two lines to its text, in the same style as the lines already there, for example "&aCraftRank:" and "&fhttps://craftrank.org/vote/your-server". Your vote link is on your dashboard. Run /superbvote reload.
    • VotingPlugin: add CraftRank as a site in plugins/VotingPlugin/VoteSites.yml with your vote link as VoteURL, then run /av reload. With option B, leave its rewards empty: our plugin gives the reward.
  • Hand /vote to our plugin. Turn off the other plugin's vote command (in SuperbVote: vote-command → enabled: false). Players lose the other lists' links in /vote, so only do this if CraftRank is your main list.
  • Show both with one command. If the other plugin registers /vote as a normal command, an alias in the server's commands.yml can run both: under aliases:, add vote: with the lines - "otherplugin:vote" and - "craftrankvotes:vote". Type /help vote to see the other plugin's name. This doesn't work with plugins that catch /vote themselves, like SuperbVote.

Players get two rewards for one vote

This happens when CraftRank sends each vote twice: once through Votifier and once through our plugin. Use only one: either turn off Votifier on your server's edit page on CraftRank, or remove the plugin. With option A, also check that your reward plugin doesn't give an extra reward for CraftRank on top of the normal one.

Two vote reminders

If your reward plugin already reminds players to vote, turn off ours in plugins/CraftRankVotes/config.yml: set reminders.on-join to false, or set every-minutes to a longer time, then run /craftrank reload. Or turn the other plugin's reminder off and keep ours: it only reminds players who haven't voted on CraftRank today.

Check that everything works

  1. Run /craftrank status. It should show your server's name and Connection: OK.
  2. If it shows a connection error, open the config and check that site is "https://craftrank.org", the address of the site and not your server's page, and that api-key is the key from your dashboard.
  3. Run /craftrank test YourName to give yourself the reward once.
  4. Vote for your server on CraftRank. The reward arrives within check-every-seconds (30 seconds by default).

With option A, test Votifier with our Votifier tester instead. Still stuck? Write to us from the documentation or your dashboard.
