How to set up vote rewards (Votifier)

Give players a reward when they vote for your Minecraft server: set up the CraftRank Votes plugin in two minutes, or NuVotifier with a public key or token.

Vote rewards are the best way to get votes: players vote every day when they get something for it, and votes move your server up the list. There are two ways to connect your server to CraftRank. Pick one; you don't need both.

Option 1: the CraftRank Votes plugin (easiest)

Our own plugin asks CraftRank for new votes every few seconds. You don't need to open a port or copy any keys, so it also works on hosts that don't let you open ports. It runs on Spigot, Paper, Purpur and their forks, version 1.13 and newer.

  1. Download CraftRankVotes.jar and put it in your server's plugins folder.
  2. Restart the server. The plugin creates plugins/CraftRankVotes/config.yml.
  3. On CraftRank, open your dashboard, choose your server and go to Discord & API. Create an API key and paste it as api-key in the config.
  4. Write your rewards under rewards.commands, for example give {player} diamond 3 or crate key give {player} vote 1, then run /craftrank reload.

The plugin also adds a /vote command with a clickable link, reminds players who haven't voted today, and can keep rewards for players who are offline until they join.

Option 2: NuVotifier

NuVotifier is the standard vote plugin used by most server lists. The list connects to your server on a separate port and sends each vote.

  1. Install NuVotifier on your server (or on your BungeeCord / Velocity proxy for a network) and restart.
  2. Open plugins/Votifier/config.yml. Note the port (8192 by default) and make sure host is 0.0.0.0.
  3. Open that port for TCP in your host's panel or firewall. On shared hosting, ask your host for an extra port and use that one.
  4. Copy the contents of plugins/Votifier/rsa/public.key (or the token from config.yml for Votifier v2).
  5. On CraftRank, edit your server, turn on Votifier and fill in your server address, the port and the key.
  6. Install a reward plugin such as VotingPlugin or SuperbVote to decide what players get.

Test it with our Votifier tester: it sends a test vote and tells you exactly what went wrong if it doesn't arrive.

Common problems

  • Connection refused or timed out: the Votifier port is closed or wrong. Check the port in the config and your firewall.
  • Bad key: copy the whole public key on one line, without spaces at the start or end.
  • Votes arrive but no reward: the reward plugin isn't set up, or it only rewards online players.
  • Network with a proxy: put NuVotifier on the proxy and use its forwarding to send votes to the right server.

Get more votes

Remind players in chat, show your vote link everywhere, and put the vote badge from your dashboard on your website. Read more in how voting works for players.
