With two free plugins, Geyser and Floodgate, players on Bedrock Edition (phones, tablets, Windows, Xbox, PlayStation and Switch) can join your Java server and play together with Java players. It roughly doubles the number of people who can play on your server.
What you need
- A Java server running Paper, Spigot, Purpur or Folia, or a Velocity or BungeeCord proxy for a network. Fabric and NeoForge versions of Geyser exist too.
- A recent Minecraft version. Geyser follows the newest Bedrock versions; on an older server add ViaVersion so new clients can join.
- One extra UDP port, or permission to use your Java port number for UDP as well.
1. Install Geyser and Floodgate
- Download the Geyser and Floodgate builds for your platform from geysermc.org.
- Put both jar files in the
pluginsfolder (on a network: on the proxy) and restart. - Floodgate lets Bedrock players join without a Java account. Without it, every Bedrock player would need to log in with a Java account too.
2. Set the Bedrock port
Open Geyser's config.yml (for example plugins/Geyser-Spigot/config.yml):
bedrock: port:is the port Bedrock players use,19132by default. Open it for UDP in your firewall or host panel.- Can't get an extra port? Set
clone-remote-port: true. Geyser then listens on the same number as your Java port, over UDP. - Check that
auth-typeunderremoteisfloodgate. Geyser normally sets this itself when Floodgate is installed.
Restart the server after changing the config.
3. How Bedrock players join
Bedrock players go to Play → Servers → Add Server and enter your server address and the Bedrock port. Their names get a prefix (a dot by default, like .Steve) so they never clash with Java names. Console players can't add servers directly; the joining guide explains the ways around that.
4. Show it on CraftRank
We check every Java server for a Bedrock port. Once Geyser is running, your server is marked Java + Bedrock, the page shows the Bedrock address and port, and you appear on the Bedrock servers list as well. Want to check it yourself first? Use our server status checker with your address and the Bedrock port.
Tips
- Bedrock players can't use some Java-only features, such as certain custom GUIs and resource-pack tricks. Test your spawn and menus with a phone.
- Plugins that check the player name (for example permissions by name) must use the name with the prefix.
